The new term president of the Global Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC) was elected at the General Assembly held in TRNC with the participation of fifty countries. Dr. Natalia Ciobanu from Moldova won the election in which three country delegates competed.

The country that will chair the 56 member countries of the Global Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC) for the period 2024-26 (April 2024) was determined at the General Assembly convened within the scope of the 6th Global Healthcare Travel Forum and Conference (GHTF2024) hosted by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Moldova won the election held with the participation of the delegates of the member countries of the Global Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC), where Germany, Saudi Arabia and Moldova competed for the presidency.

TRNC Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, who assumed the Presidency of the High Advisory Board of the World Health Tourism Council for the 2023-24 (April) period, and TRNC Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu and the term President, TRNC MP Dr. Ahmet Savaşan handed over the Presidential flag to the new term President Dr. Natalia Ciobanu, who won the election representing Moldova.

- The World Health Tourism Forum and Conference (GHTF2024, North Cyprus) was hosted this year by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which chairs the World Health Tourism Council for the period 2023-24 (April). The GHTC 2024 was attended by the TRNC President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Finance, Founding President of the GHTC, delegates who have chaired and led the World Health Tourism Council, presidents and executives of authorized associations in the field of health, tourism and education from TRNC and Turkey, and more than 300 delegates from 50 countries.

While 25 keynote speakers participated in the Forum sessions discussing the Future of Global Health Tourism, Health and Sustainable Development Goals, Travel for Health, Healthcare and Climate Change, Healthcare and Technologies, Wellness and Wellbeing, Health Tourism and Advanced Active Living, more than 150 papers co-authored by over 500 researchers, including 22 keynote speakers, were presented in the conference sessions.
